Happy Easter everyone! I wanted to share something that was on heart last night.
I saw the movie Risen yesterday and I started to imagine what the disciples felt on that Saturday. The author and perfecter of our faith had just been crucified, and buried in a tomb. If I had to guess, I would say they had feelings of doubt if our savior really would rise again like He said. Their hearts were probably filled with great sadness, and hopelessness. That Sunday had to be the best when the feelings of defeat, were replaced with joy.
My favorite part in the film is when the Roman soldier, after seeing that Christ had risen, sits next to Jesus and says, ‘ I don’t even know what to ask. I was there when you were crucified. I helped them.’ Jesus looks at him, smiles, and says, ‘I know.’ What a crazy love, that Jesus can look on the face of his crucifier and show him forgiveness.
‘But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ Romans 5:8.
If there is nothing else we can be sure about in this life, we can be sure of this. We are loved. Beyond all doubt, fear, and rejection. His love for us paid the price. He poured out His love for all to see, conquered the grave and ROSE again. Know that on this day, He thought of us, and loved us because of who He is.
‘Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.’ John 15:13
Not only did Christ die for us; but thank God that He ROSE AGAIN for us.
‘…Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is Risen! He is not here…’ Mark 16:6
