“We’re here.”

“Where is here?”

“Here.”

This was a conversation had between our driver and translator Shamma, our ministry host Pastor Reese, and our other translator Ben. We arrived at this village named Peris on a hot Tuesday morning and were greeted by the celebration of locals. My teammate asked our translator Ben if it was normal for missionaries to be welcomed into a village like this. Ben smiled and laughed while he bluntly told her no. None of us could deny that the Lord had a hand in our sudden change of ministry.

We walked into the village to start evangelizing by going door to door but something else happened. The people began to line up and everyone came straight to us. We remained outside of a man named Davids house for the duration of our time and David began to tell us the great need in this community. He told us how people are starving and the local school is struggling to pay its staff, and the kids that attend the school don’t always have a proper meal. Our ministry saw this as an open door of opportunity and partnered with this community to get them food and we were able to do vacation bible school with the kids. It was amazing to see a new partnership form from the Holy Spirit stepping in and guiding us.

I am so thankful to have shared in a plan that the Lord had for his people and it’s something I won’t forget. He honored the space that our driver gave him and he blessed his obedience to him. I have been absolutely blown away by the provision of the Lord while in Haiti. The thing that’s even crazier about all of this is that God still has so much more to give. And he LOVES to give it out to his children. How freaking amazing is our God!
