Perfect:
being entirely without fault or defect: FLAWLESS.

I am not perfect. What I do is not perfect. What I say is not perfect. My by myself is NOT perfect.
Now; according to Colossians 3:10 to put on my new nature which is being renewed in the knowledge of the image of Christ. It also says later in verse 12 to once again, to “put on then, God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience.
Jesus died to give us way to LIFE. We were dead. Like DEAD DEAD in our trespasses against Him. Doesn’t get any deader than that. BUT through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we have been made PERFECT.
I don’t get it right most of the time. My words slip, my thoughts drift, and I chose things of the world over my Jesus time and time again because naturally I’m not perfect. BUT JESUS IS. My pursuit is made perfect through Him, by trusting in His way that illuminates the path to life through the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:10, Psalm 33:4 ). It’s not about how much we fail, but how much we keep going after Him. Since my life is now hidden in Christ ( Colossian 3:3) I get to now share in His perfect glory. This is NOTHING that I can fabricate or try to counjure up myself. To try and find my own way to prove or validate myself before an already perfect God is to undermine the finishing work of the cross that says “It is finished.” I’m done trying to be perfect, when I ALREADY AM through the blood that sanctifies me through Christ Jesus. Through our weakness and Christ’s strength, GRACE is what KEEPS us and rests upon us in POWER (2 Corinthians 12:9). STOP trying. Stop it RIGHT NOW. I can’t do it, we can’t do it, and we don’t have to. He says to seek him and we shall find him. He already claimed us as his OWN and planted the fire of His Holy Spirit within us that gives knowledge of truth that resides in Him. Of this we are ASSURED and GUARANTEED of through His Word. (Hebrews 10:15- 18, Romans 8:11, 2 Corinthians 1:22).
We are chosen, presented as blameless without spot or blemish, and we are covered in His grace. We have been freed from sin, and we are CONFIDENT in our Lord Jesus, so we can boast in His perfect plan to save us. Our hope DOES NOT lie in our flawed works of the flesh that can never measure up. We only receive His perfect love by His wonderful gift of Salvation and seeking His face and loving him (Hebrews 5:9, Titus 2:11-14, Deuteronomy 11:1). We can be confident in what Jesus did so we can then believe what He says about us. Believe in Him who placed his PERFECT Holy Spirit inside of you( 2 Timothy 1:14).
I needed to be reminded of this today. That His promise over us is true and that a fire is burning inside of me that is a force to be reckoned with. Because of the Life Christ died to give me, I can believe that through his Living Spirit, I am made free. I needed to be reminded that I have now PUT ON his righteousness. I am whole because of Christ who gave His final breath, to place His promise of life in me.
Believe in what He says about Himself, and what He says about YOU. Those scriptures above are for YOU. He wrote an entire story of His infinite love for you, that you should WALK in it. Hand in hand with our perfect Savior.
