Hi everyone! I realized that I haven’t written a blog about a day in the life of the Mags, or what we have done recently. So here it is!
We have been doing “ask the Lord” ministry, which is code for learning how to live out your life where you’re constantly led by the Holy Spirit. We listen and respond to what the Lord has told us, and we ask Him if the desires we have as a team line up with what He wants from us. The Lord has been exceedingly faithful to the Mags, and we have been humbled by this. We know that it’s not by our doing but only because of grace. There is absolutely no explanation other than His overwhelming grace when we speak of the things He’s done for and through us.
A first day for us in a new country looks like finding hostels, transportation, and hopefully somewhere to get a good coffee. We then take a day to get settled, spend the next day researching and praying over what cities we should go to, and then we come together and discuss everything and anything people have received from the Lord, or something fun that we want to do as a team. What I’ve been reminded of is that it’s OK to have fun. Not everything needs to be a grandiose experience that is exceedingly holy. Sometimes you can suggest a fun thing to do as a group and go out and do it. God created laughter, smiles, and warm hearts that are filled with joy. We can worship the creator through enjoying fun experiences instead of looking at it as something we can selfishly indulge ourselves in. We can be immersed in the subtle and mighty wonders He has given us.
This past month in Indonesia we had the opportunity to travel to the cities of Jogjakarta, Banyuwangi, Denpasar Bali, and Surabaya. We went down to Bali on one coastline, then up to Surabaya and onto Jakarta for our flight to Thailand. By the time we were done in Indonesia, we made a loop around the island of Java. It was awesome to see how the Mags had encompassed it by traveling long hours on trains, buses, and cabs. It really was the great commission (Matt 28) lived out through us. God’s love and commitment to His people showed strong, and I’m constantly reminded of His love for us.
I was also reminded that the will of the Father will be carried out (Isaiah 46:11) . Whether or not we’re the ones who give the yes, a yes will be had from someone, and His work will prevail. It gives me so much joy and peace to know that. We have had this opportunity to seek the Lord together in all that we do, and we said yes to doing what He’s asked of us. That’s not to say that we have done it perfectly, listened every time( or even asked), or that we haven’t had problems. We have had disagreements, hurt feelings, tough conversations, and grumpy days. We know that we’re human, and we decide as a group that no matter what, we will respect each other. We don’t listen to respond, we listen to love each other, and have a conversation about how to live out that love towards one another. I’ve had the pleasure of being the Team Leader to these beautiful and intelligent women of Christ, and it’s truly been a blessing.
I wanted to share a day in the life, because I know that some people ( my family members mostly) don’t know a lot of what it is that we do as a group and I’m not the best at keeping up with everyone. I hope this had shed some light on the journey I’ve been on. I love you all and thank you for your prayers, and constant support!
Love,
Alisha
