One of my favorite things in the world is living with families who live in some of the toughest but simplest conditions. In Africa, I had the opportunity to stay with a pastor for a few nights in which there was no running water, electricity, or other “luxurious” assets we as Americans take for granted. I (along with two others) got to travel two hours in the African bush to hang out with the Masai tribe for a day; making it one of my most unforgettable and life-changing moments I have had the privilege to partake in. So needless to say, I was super excited for the opportunity to live with a family in the Barrios for five days. Wendi, Jennifer, and I stayed with the Modesto family in which we were welcomed in as one of their own. I love this family so much and created an everlasting bond with each member of the family. During our stay, we got to love on the entire family, read bible stories to grandma, had crazy-awesome fashion shows with the young girls, ate WAY more than usual, and started the day when the roosters crowed at 4 am- it was great. I absolutely loved my time there and I would do it again in a heart-beat. Here are some photos of my time at the Modesto’s. Enjoy…
