So, we were not even supposed to go to Malaysia; but the Lord had OTHER plans.

Malaysia, Malaysia, Malaysia…where do I begin?

April was by far one of the hardest months since being on the race. For all of you who do NOT know a lot about the Malaysian culture, this blog will catch you up.

Malaysia is known for its multi-racial population. The three prevalent cultures that are present in Malaysia are Malay, Indian, and Chinese.

Real quick, before I get too much into this, here are some facts about this country:

Languages: Bahasa Melayu (official language), English, Chinese dialects, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Panjabi, Thai, and several indigenous languages.

Ethnicity/race: Malay 50.4%, Chinese 23.7%, Indigenous 11%, Indian 7.1%,others 7.8%

Religions: Muslim (Official), Buddhist, Daoist, Hindu, Christian, Sikh.

Literacy rate: 89%

It is actually illegal to preach the gospel to Malays; which was part of the reason why it was such a hard month. Seriously, if my team were to talk to a Malay about Jesus, we would be imprisoned; not sent out of the country, but imprisoned. It was hard not being able to talk about Jesus-HE is the reason why we all came on this trip.

To make things worse, the place we were staying was surrounded by a Muslim Mausk and a Hindu temple. If my team and I did not hear bells ringing, we heard the Islamic chants coming from a loud speaker. There was definitely a spirit of confusion (among other strongholds) to say the least. My team and I came up with the idea of buying blow horns and going crazy with them the moment the bells would start ringing; we never found the time to buy them, though.

Even though it was a tough month, the Lord still made himself known. It was a GOOD learning experience and it opened my eyes to how much freedom we (as Americans) really do have. I do believe that one day Malaysia will be a country that worships the true creator of the Heavens and the Earth. I declare that each person will have the freedom to speak the name of Jesus and tell of HIS great works.

Please partner with me in praying for this lost nation. Pray that Malaysia will one day be the light of this dark world.

“For Zion’s sake I will not keep quiet, for [Malaysia’s] sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness SHINES out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch. The nations will SEE your righteousness, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. You will be a crown of SPLENDOR in the Lord’s hand, a ROYAL DIADEM in the hand of your God. No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate, but you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord will take DELIGHT in you, and your land will be married. As a young man marries a maiden, so will your sons marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God REJOICE over you.”
