We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip. Here is my story…

This past year has been very challenging but it has also been a great growth period. Not only did I struggle financially, but I came to find out who my true friends are and I had a REALLY bad breakup with the man I thought I could possibly spend the rest of my life with. However, I gave my problems to God  and came out stronger then ever! Through this crazy process I realized what kind of woman God intended me to be and that it really does not have to do with me, but it has everything to do with HIM! As I started to examine my life and where God wanted me, I found that a different type of growth was necessary for the next step in my faith. I longed for more of God’s teaching, for more personal fellowship, the chance to meet new people, to see new places, and to discover more about myself through Jesus Christ! One day while at work, my co-worker/friend Jacque and I were talking about her missionary experiences and that is when Jesus laid it on my heart to go on a mission! I have thought of the idea of missions for a good couple of years, but did not know how to go about finding the perfect one for me and then also life happened…funny thing! Jacque knew of many mission trips and was just excited as I was to find the ideal one for me! After she asked me some questions about where my heart was and what kind of mission work I would be interested in, she asked if I had ever heard of the World Race. Of course I had NO idea WHAT she was talking about so I asked her about a million questions! (Note: that was an extreme exaggeration!) Anywho, she went home and printed the information out for me and the moment the paperwork touched my hand, God told me this was it! This was the one! Of course I got ALL emotional and told everyone I could about it! I was so excited that all the hard work had finally paid off. Although I knew all to well the importance of God’s timing, it did not hit me until that moment. Timing IS everything!  Jesus just wanted me to learn a few things before I could have this type of experience. I know that the purpose of my life is to serve the Lord through ministry, but I have also found that Jesus wants me to serve him through another way as well: Missions! I had knocked on so many doors before this, so it was a geat surprise (and a relief) to see that this was the door that was opened! (Matthew 7:7-8) Isn’t God Amazing?!
