In my last blog I shared a little bit about what my teammates have noticed about me, what they think about me, how the see the Lord within in me, etc. Well this blog is pretty much the opposite, down below you will find short blurbs that I wrote about everyone on my team. Now you all will get to know the people that I do life with everyday a little better. So go on and read about the people that I call my family–
Kate:
Literally is one of the most joyous people I know. Her laugh is CONTAGIOUS. When a dance party breaks out I know I can count on her to be my dance partner and whip out the most insane dance moves. Definitely enjoy “bathroom parties” with her on the daily. Fun fact: She is low key a hair dresser, not only did she cut off inches and inches of Josie’s hair at midnight one night, but she also gave me a hair trim.(You hear that mom, no more split ends!)
Doing the race with Kate, has been the best so far. Kate overflows with the Lords joy, whenever I am around her I instantly become more joyous. Kate also is truly wise when it comes to scripture. She has so much knowledge to share about it, not only to the team but to everyone we minister to.
I have learned so much from her, and I am so grateful.
Hey Kate– i just really love you a lot. Praise him for putting us on a team together.
Josie:
The ultimate bug killer, there are some pretty gross bugs around the world. I could listen to her amazing life stories for hours. She is a gifted storyteller. This girl is one of THE SWEETEST people I know. She literally can make me laugh until I snort, and it is wonderful.
Josie seriously has so much to share and offer. I truly see her speaking through the Holy Spirit during ministry all the time. She has so much wisdom and I always am eggar to hear what she has to say and share. I seriously admire her walk with the Lord, it encourages me that we are never finished, that he is always working through us. The Lord has blessed her with so many gifts, and I see her continuously using them and sharing them with everyone around her.
Josie- you are so so lovely and I’m so glad I have a gal pal like you to do the race with.
Kara:
Loves to read license plate numbers/letters out loud, sometimes it causes us to laugh so hard while riding in a trunk of a truck. She also really enjoys using the word “hooligan.” According to her back home I own cows… We both love our virtual physical trainer named Kelly from our workout videos. (Kara is inspired and wants to name her daughter Kelly, because she thinks it’ll make a good “mom name.”)
Every since the first time meeting Kara at training camp I saw the Lord within her. She speaks and prays so boldly and confidently. Since the race started I’ve seen her grow in ministry, specifically woman’s ministry. She truly lights up while talking to and creating relationships with women, it’s inspiring that she can touch the hearts of so many.
Kara Murray, I am so dang thankful for you.
Zach Y.:
Makes a mean golden brown, and fluffy pancake. It’s a good skill to have, our team definitely appreciates it. He might not admit it, but he for sure would be down to do a Zumba workout video any day of the week. He’s also pretty much a Clark Kent look alike, especially when he wears his glasses and green super man shirt.
Zach has a passion for children’s ministry. His face lights up as soon as he sees children or hears that we get to work with them. It is truly great to see the different and creative ways he interacts with children. No matter what age, if they are fully clothed or not he will love on them so well. (Oh yeah story time, one time in Haiti I was holding this tiny tiny baby and I passed her off to Zach and… unfortunately she definitely pooped on him.) He wasn’t even phased though. The Lord has filled him with so much wisdom, and I can’t wait to see how the Lord grows within him throughout the rest of the race.
Matt:
Matt, he is deathly afraid of cats and spiders. One of the first nights in Botswana he faced his fear and killed a massive spider with our kitchen broom… fun fact- the spider played dead and he broke the broom into several pieces. We also share the same sense of humor, and laugh extremely hard together. Also since he is an Eagle Scout he often times tells us that he bleeds gold and can stand in fire because it won’t burn him…
Since being on the race I have noticed so many fruits within Matt. He has strong wisdom within him, he has so much goodness to share. He is always working extremely hard. You can tell that whatever ministry is he is ready for a new challenge. It is so admirable to see him flourish in so many different ways. Matts hard work ethic is encouraging to me, to always work hard as well.
Zack T.:
Most likely to find playing guitar in the kitchen at midnight.(It’s incredible though, so it’s okay.) my favorite thing that Zack says is “Let’s Go.” No matter what the situation is.
Not only is Zach an amazing squad leader, he is also a great friend. I enjoy having spiritual conversations with him. I love listening to him speak, I know that everything he says comes from the Holy Spirit. He lets the Lord guide him in all of his tasks no matter what it is. His biblical knowledge is so so wise. He always has something new to share with us, I think it is really helpful and insightful. Zach truly is such a big part of my race, and I’m so glad I can look to him as a leader and a friend. I am very excited to see the ways the Lord leads him through this race.
Dakota:
Dakota definitely enjoys pranking people whenever he gets the chance. He is constantly making himself laugh it seems like. Also if available you will for sure see him with a soda in hand.
Something I’ve learned about his spiritual journey since being on the race is that he thrives during worship. The Lord has installed this great love inside of him for creating music(specially drumming.) It is such a blessing for our whole squad that he can serve us through music. I can tell that worship is something he deeply connects with the Lord through.
Noah:
Could stick an IV in you if you’d ask. Coffee addict, and expert. Definitely prefers mountains over beaches. Most likely teammate to find spending his past time in a hammock journaling.
Noah for sure has so so much knowledge. His love for scripture is so prevalent. He is always wanting to learn more, and sharing with other. His passion when he talks about scripture is so encouraging. I am so excited to see him continue to share the word throughout the race. Noah also always has a listening ear for anyone no matter what the situation. It is really great to know that when talking with him you are truly heard.
with, love, praise, and blessings–
always,
Alina
