This week I had the wonderful opportunity to spend my 19th birthday in the beautiful country of Haiti.

Let me just say November 1st in Haiti has slightly different than November 1st in Wisconsin. The trees weren’t different shades of orange, yellow, and red, the funny thing is I spent the whole day taking dull machetes to about 500 trees. Instead of 40 degree weather, it was close to 100 degrees. When nighttime fell my team surprised me with brownies, singing, gifts, and laughter.

So here’s to 19 years of life, with that I’m going to list 19 things about Haiti:

1.) I’ve gotten to gift two families goats! We have named this Goatistry– side note I LOVE GOATS!

2.) For number 2, I have gotten TO bless 2 families by painting their houses 2 different shades of pink! (I love how colorful the homes are here!)

3.) There are naked children…every where! But hey, they deserve just as much love as the clothed kiddos.

4.) A big thing the Lord has been teaching me this month is that I’m never alone, He is ALWAYS there.

5.) Haitian women are amazing at hand-washing clothes, as much as I try, I will never acquire such talent.

6.) I shared my full testimony with my team this month, it is definitely something to celebrate.

7.) PP–PRAYER PARTIES!!! (They’re pretty life giving.)

8.) I am so thankful for my team and the two other co-ed teams I lived with this month.

9.) Ministry has looked a lot like house visits and really loving on the women in the villages.

10.) I have really learned to love PB&J sandwiches.

11.) Apparently cacti make really good fences around peoples property.

12.) I will never get over the time 20 orphans individually prayed over my team and I. (It was so insanely special.)

13.) This month I have found out how much I love water-color painting.

14.) The Haitian sunrise literally never disappoints.

15.) Mosquito bites…so many mosquito bites…

16.) “Sleeping in” has turned into sleeping until 6:55 am.

17.) Singing babies to sleep makes me heart SO happy.

18.) Worship services in Creole are really rockin!!!

19.) I REALLY FLIPPIN LOVE HAITI!

Haiti has treated me so well, I am IN SHOCK that I’m leaving in 4 days! Part of my heart will always be with this country.

Hey everyone! In the past week and a half I have raised $1,365! THAT IS INSANE! I am so grateful and thankful for everyone who has donated and for the Lord for so faithfully providing. I have been sending out thank you emails like crazy, it’s such a good feeling!

The amount I have left to raise is $2,983– UNDER $3,000! Woo-hoo!!! We can do it, I am so confident. Continue to help me by spreading the word, and shouting from the roof-tops. I appreciate more than you’ll ever know.

Love always,

Alina
