I have this split view
Separated by a helmet.
To the left, a city.
Mans creation.
Physical society.
An erratic display of homes, shops, and restaurants.
An artificial assembly of colors.
Mans sense of order.
We find life here.
We thrive here.
To the right, nature.
Your creation.
Physical artistry.
Beaches cradling the bay.
Mountains cascading into the sea.
Every shade of green and blue.
Life’s intended home.
We have forgotten how to thrive here.
Side by side I see the difference.
It’s as if the life you created is too beautiful to be inhabited.
As if we are not worthy to live in your gifts.
So filled with shame, we twisted your creation into artificial shelters.
We feed ourselves, we protect ourselves, we fill our own desires.
We know we are not worthy to receive your gifts, so we don’t.
What we don’t know is that you have forgiven us.
Through Jesus you have washed our sins.
But who is this Jesus?
That is the disconnect. Who is Jesus?
That is why on the back of a motor cycle, with the separation of a helmet in front of me, I am able to see the distinct separation. A picture of the disheveled society of man to the left, and Gods picture of beauty, peacefulness, and life on the right.
My new team, Joyful Noise, and I are currently in Da Nang, Vietnam. We will be in Vietnam until the end of the month. We are parternering with an English school and helping out in english cafes helping Vietnamese practice english and build relationships. Southeast Asia has quickly become some of my favorite months here on this race.
