Each child in this orphanage has a unique story. Michelle was found in a dumpster, being eaten by rats as a baby. Christopher is a baby that was found in the rubble of the earthquake, laying in the arms of his dead father. Lubencia ran away from her family because she was their slave child. Rebecca had to drink human blood offerings during voodoo rituals. Ginia was raped in a tent city during the aftermath of the earthquake. Esther lost both of her parents during the earthquake.

It kind of makes you sick to think about, doesn’t it? Their stories are simply heart wrenching. These children have no possessions that are their own. They have no privacy. They don’t get to eat whenever they want. They don’t get to experience air conditioning or play sports. They do not get to just be kids.
But they have hope.
Every night, the children get together and do devotionals. It is simply amazing. They sing about God being mighty to save, that He has the whole world in His hands, and that He is an awesome God. None of these children are bitter about their circumstances. They have grateful and joyful hearts. They choose to sing with smiles on their faces, and they have nothing.
How many of us are content with what we have? Is Jesus really what fills our hearts? Would you still praise Him if you had nothing? Would you still be thankful if you didn’t have your family or your friends anymore?
Be inspired by these children.
