There is never enough time, for ANYTHING! Or so we think. What we often forget is that God’s plan is best. It never fails. His timing is perfect.
“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9
In these weeks leading up to launch, I thought I had all the time in the world to come home and organize my boxes, unpack some and feel like I had an actual closet to live from and eventually pack. Time to see all my friends over coffee, lunches, and dinner. And so on. Well we all know, time flies and that has lead to a whirlwind of emotions as minutes have ticked closer and closer to me needing to be ready and prepared for launch in just a few days. So I will share a few of my thoughts associated with the various emotions.
TIME: here I am, finishing this blog on my layover to South Africa because I didn’t “find time” to finish it sooner, lol
STRESS: scheduling meetings, coordinating plans and events, communicating tasks and travel details, checking off to-dos, packing not enough or too much, safety for our travel
FEAR: it’s really happening, how people respond as I depart, other people’s worries about my safety – should I be worried since they’re so worried?
GRATITUDE: financial blessings (SO MANY – my supporters are awesome), words of support & encouragement, God moments
SADNESS: again it’s really happening and I might not get to see or talk to these people as often as I usually do, sad seeing other people sad
EXCITED: took awhile to get here again but when I stop and reflect, pray, and read scripture I feel empowered. I know as long as I do what I am supposed to do – it will all work out.
Another update I wanted to provide those of you following along is how and when you might be able to get ahold of me in the weeks to come. We have gotten word that the first village we are living in (Malealea, Lesotho) might not have electricity and therefore definitely no wifi. If we go to a nearby lodge on rest days, they have electricity and wifi. (I am posting this on our first “free” Saturday. So a few days in… confirmed: no electric or wifi – woohoo! In a week or two I will post again with what we are actually doing! It is BEAUTIFUL here.)
So, remember now and through this trip, “No news is good news.” Make sense? If you don’t here from me, see an update from a teammate or even my Mom, that means I am OKAY! I am living the minimal lifestyle and doing well. I will provide news, pictures, and updates as frequently as I can. I LOVE all you friends and family back home but this will be a year of focusing on the PRESENT and I can’t wait. I thank you for your support and understanding in that.
We appreciate your continued prayers for quick adaptation to our new lives, God preparing hearts of those around us, listening to His nudge to engage in conversations, and all the ways He can use us in these places. I will be praying for all of YOU too! Much, MUCH LOVE – XOXO
