“So… what’s the point of this thing anyway?  What significance does a blog have compared to the issue of trafficking?  Alicia, ya dunce, how on earth can you spend time blogging when there are lives to be changed?!  The purpose of this blog is such a great mystery to me…”

If those questions have crossed your mind, let me tell you that this blog is for YOU… here are just a few cool ways you can utilize my blog!

1. Communication with me before, during, and after my trip.  Yes, even in other countries, I will be able to update this blog fairly often, and I will be able to respond to blog comments, Facebook messages (click to see my profile), and emails!   You can click here to subscribe to my blog so that you get an email whenever I update.

2. Getting to know my team/squad.  Click a teammate’s name below to see their blogs, too!  For the entire human trafficking squad, here’s the page with everyone… click as you please!

3.  Knowing how to pray — through my team and I’s blog updates, you’ll keep up with what’s going on with us overseas.  You can then focus your prayers to our specific needs; believe me, we appreciate every prayer, especially since yours are powerful and effective (see James 5:16).  If you’re interested in joining my personal prayer team, send me an email (push “contact” to the left to do so).  You can also adopt my team in prayer… keep an eye out for an update on how to do this!  ๐Ÿ™‚

4.  Pictures!  Everyone loves seeing pictures from the field, and there will be plenty of pictures along with the updates!  The one below is from Guatemala in 2008… just for fun!  ๐Ÿ™‚

5.  Knowing where your money went.  If you gave to this trip financially, blogs are a great way to keep up with what your money is supporting and how lives are changing because of you!

6.  Helping us spread the word about trafficking.  Through hearing our stories (and the stories of others that we tell), you can then share with family, friends, coworkers, that random lady at the gas station, your waitress, your coach and teachers, that big muscle-y guy at the gym… ANYONE!  Ultimately, when others become aware of the tragedy of human trafficking, more can be done to stop it.  Word of mouth makes you an abolitionist, too!

7.  Okay, okay… I’ll admit it.  I am going to miss everyone… a lot.  And there will be days when I feel so out of the loop and am just dying to see a familiar face.  Communication, little updates from home, encouragement, pictures, sharing prayers or answered prayers, sending me a knock-knock joke… all of these things will be so helpful for my team and I on those days!  PLEASE DON’T HESITATE to share what God is doing in your life, especially while I am overseas!

Please let me know if you have any questions or more ideas on how to utilize my blog, and feel free to start now with any of the above… thank you for your support!

Love, Alicia

P.S. “Knock knock!”  “Who’s there?”  “Little old lady!”  “Little old lady who?”  “I didn’t know you could yodel!”  Try that on someone and let me know how it goes!  ๐Ÿ˜‰
