Sawatdee-kah, everyone!
My team and I have arrived safely in Thailand! During the day (from noon – 8pm), we work with an organization that teaches English, manners, hygiene, and the Gospel to children that live in local slums. There are sixty kids and throughout the week, we will teach them songs, perform skits, teach them Bible stories, help cook and serve their meals, and assist their teachers in teaching them English. Tomorrow, we have a great opportunity to bring some household necessities (food, toiletries, etc.) to their slums and meet their families. At night, we are doing bar ministry or prayer (we go out to bars every other night; on "off" days, we stay back and intercede for our teammates who are in the bars) from 8:30pm – 1am.
During this month, communication from me will be rare. Please keep my team and I in your prayers for whatever God shows you; Thailand is notorious for being a country that brings out your buried issues, past mistakes you haven't dealt with, and many different spirits such as comparison or addictions. We appreciate all of the prayer we can get, thank you!
Life is Thailand is going great, though very different from the orphanage. This month, we rented bicycles and they are our primary mode of transportation (sooo fun to ride!), we each do our own grocery shopping, and we stay in a guest house rather than living with the kids.
Spiritually, I am doing well. Travel days did throw off my God-time, but yesterday and today I was able to have a nice, long, filling chunk of time! I am falling more and more in love with Him and I am very excited to press in even further. One thing I am working on is memorizing Scripture; I have gotten Psalms 139:13-18 down, 2 Chronicles 7:14-16 is now, and I am going to learn a few more scriptures (and where they are found!) before we leave Thailand.
Much love from Thailand; I pray that you are all finding yourselves able to press into God's character every day. I am learning more every day that He really is the only thing that matters.
I love you.
