In the spirit of 11, here’s a list of 11 things to know about me.
- I was born in South Carolina, but grew up both there and in Belgium. My family currently lives in Thailand. Where am I from? Who knows?
- I’ve spent the past four years at Elon University in North Carolina, where I’m majoring in English literature and French.
- I LOVE young adult literature. Absolutely love it. Sarah Dessen and John Green are a couple of my favorite authors.
- Because I love words and writing and editing, I work at Elon’s Writing Center. I love my job and will miss it terribly after I graduate.
- I love to knit. Hats are presently my favorite, although I’ve also done scarves, socks and gloves and am working on a sweater.
- I love to bake. Really, I just love to love people through food. I think there’s something really special and sweet (literally) about giving someone homemade baked goods.
- I love (plain) Cheerios. This may seem like a strange, unimportant aspect to use to describe myself, but anyone who’s ever lived with me can tell you that this is critical. I could pretty much live off of plain Cheerios drowning in milk.
- My Intervarsity Christian Fellowship family has been my home base at Elon for the past four years, and it will be very, very hard to leave them.
- I love to laugh, and I love cheesy, punny humor. I am rarely serious and I’m always playing on words.
- “Mr. Darcy is not to be laughed at! That is an uncommon advantage, and uncommon I hope it will continue, for it would be a great loss to me to have many such acquaintance. I dearly love a laugh.” It is a truth universally acknowledged that I love to quote Pride and Prejudice. A lot.
- I am dreamy and idealistic, devoted and passionate, joyful and optimistic, a listener and an encourager. Best of all, I’m a daughter of the King.
And I’ll be launching in September with the delightful squad of Route 3 to Haiti, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia!
