Hello from Cape Town, South Africa! After long days/nights of travel consisting of little sleep and a lot of protein bars, we arrived at our ministry contact. We are living in a three bedroom house with 7 girls and 3 men. Thankfully there are 2 bathrooms. Our ministry host and his father live in the house and have graciously welcomed my team as well as a pastor from Brazil. The pastor speaks only a few words of English and none of us know Portuguese, so communication has been really fun. As I am writing this, he is in the other room trying to learn the days of the week in English.

We are all getting settled in and used to the constant sound of wind blowing against the house. It is hot here (95 today), but the wind really helps with the temperature. -Oh yah and no air conditioning- I am enjoying every moment of “cool” since Botswana is currently 110 degrees.

It feels so great to be back in South Africa. Cape Town is much different from Johannesburg and Durban. It is interesting to see such big beautiful mountains so close to the beach.

We are doing ministry all around our new community this month. Thus far we have shared our testimonies in high schools, got to spend a few hours in a local nursing home, and walked door-to-door praying with people. I’m not going to lie, it has been difficult, exhausting, and a little awkward at times; but one thing I am constantly reminding myself of is: it is not about my short term agenda, but His long term vision.

Overall, life is good. The Lord is already at work in a big way in the team’s hearts as well as the community we are working with. As far as comforts go, this is an easy month. We are blessed to have access to a shop rite down the street for food, we have wifi, we are sleeping in beds, and we have real showers. Next month may be a different story, but as our host shared with me this morning: “I only have one expectation in life- that God is good.”
