I just want to take a moment to marvel at the power of the Holy Spirit, and what Jesus did so that we could receive that power inside each one of us.
Wherever you are, stop and think about it for a second. Think about the God that created you and me, the God that is the creator of the universe. Really think about exactly what it is that Jesus has done to give each one of us the chance for an eternal life.
Jesus, God’s only son, came down from heaven into to our sinful world with the mission to be the last sacrifice for our sins. Jesus chose to leave a life in heaven with God the father in order to die a gruesome death on a cross. And He did all of that because He loves us.
While Jesus was on earth, he lived a sinless life, loved everyone, and performed miracles. Still, he was persecuted and condemned. He loved us so much, that he was willing to die, hanging on a cross in order for those who persecuted him to still have the chance at an eternal life in heaven.
Think about all the things that you have done in your life that nailed Jesus to the cross. Without our sins, Jesus wouldn’t have had to suffer on the cross. This blog is not to condemn you, but to make you think about the incredible love of Jesus Christ.
His love didn’t end when He died on the cross. After He was resurrected and ascended into heaven, He sent his Holy Spirit, so that He could live inside of us. The Holy Spirit is the part of the God that is alive and active in our lives everyday. It is how God speaks to us, guides us and works through us.
Acts 2: 17-21
And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below
The presence of Jesus was constant in India. The Holy Spirit was evident in the big and the small things. Whether we were walking down the street holding the kids hands or praying for healing, I could consistently feel Him everywhere we were.
One day, we met a man whose wife was sick with bronchitis. She was having a hard time breathing and looked weak. The man asked us to pray for her, and after we did you could see a change in her demeanor. She seemed so much more alive and she said that all of her pain was gone and it was easy to breathe.
Another day, we met a neighbor that had been mute for a year and had a paralyzed right arm. He had been with his family to visit several temples to ask for healing and while we were there, his wife asked us to pray over him. After we prayed he began to say the word “mother” over and over again. It was more than he had said in over a year. He also was able to move is arm a little bit. I will never forget the tears as they began to roll down his wife’s face.
We live for a powerful and mighty God. He wants to work through us for his good. We have to have faith and walk in the confidence of who He is and how much He loves us. Sometimes we just need to stop and remember how great He is and all that He has done to prove his love for us.
