OH MY GOSH! I AM ON THE WORLD RACE!!!!

I have been excited, nervous, anxious, planning, shopping, packing, unpacking, and repacking for the World Race for the past eight months. Now it is official… I’m a World Racer in South Africa.

After four days at launch in Atlanta, our teams were told where ministry would be in South Africa. Team Braveheart found out that we were going to Cape Town!!! On Thursday, B squad left the airport to catch a 6:10pm direct flight to Johannesburg (15 hours). We arrived in Johannesburg around 4:30pm on Friday. We had scheduled bus tickets to Cape Town, but our bus didn’t leave until 12 noon on Saturday. We had nowhere to stay. After calling every hostel in the area that we could afford, we decided we would be spending the night in the airport. We picked a corner, and our squad began pulling out sleeping pads and sleeping bags. We woke up early the next morning to get our transportation to the bus station squared away. We stuffed all 39 of us and our packs into four vans and a car. We headed to the bus station where we got on our bus to Cape Town (19 hours). On Sunday morning at 7am, we finally arrived in Cape Town where our hosts picked us up and took us to the places we will be staying for the month.

After a 15 hour plane ride, 17 hour sleepover in the airport, 30 minute car ride, 19 hour bus ride and 1 hour mini bus ride, we made it to Cape Town. To say that all the travel was worth it is an understatement. We are staying in an absolutely gorgeous area called Simons Town. Our host home overlooks a bay with a view of mountains on the other side. Our ministry this month is at a school down the street where we get to play sports and build relationships with the students. God is going to be moving in special ways this month, and He has spoiled us with a beautiful town our first month. God is so good! I can’t wait to see what He has in store for us when the students arrive back at school on Wednesday after their winter break!

Thank you to everyone that has supported me! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here right now! I appreciate your constant prayers and love!

I only have about $4000 to raise to be fully funded. If you would like to partner in this journey with me, please donate under the “Support Me!” link on the left.

God Bless!

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (The Message) – You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally. I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.
