Here is a post that I meant to post on Mother's Day! I have the most incredible mother in the entire world! She deserves to have a blog written just for her!
Dear Mamma,
Happy Mother's Day from Thailand!!!
As I am sitting in my tent, and as Mother's Day here in Thailand is coming to a close, I am reflecting on how much you mean to me. So many memories come to mind….
Nights when you would tuck Jessica and I into bed and read us stories from that picture/children's bible.
Letting me think I knew how to read when I really just memorized "Barefoot in the Snow"
The countless number of times you would sit through my dances and tell me that I would become a choreographer one day.
You coaching my softball team… You know way way way back when.
The fuss that would inevitably happen when all 3 kids were in elementary school, and we would try to get to church on time.
You coming home from work dressed in your fancy work clothes, and all of us kids were the first thing on your mind.
Making smiley face pancakes at the bar in the Snellville house.
Setting up the Christmas tree every year.
You bursting into our room in the morning singing “It's a beautiful morning!"
The amazing birthday parties that you would throw for me every year.
You and Dad always taking us back up the mountain one last time after ski school was over.
Teaching me how to play tennis… Even though it didn't quite stick.
Camping trips and hiking trips.
All of the softball tournaments that you never missed.
When you think a story is so funny that you can't even tell it because you are laughing so hard.
Me being a 13 year old brat, but you still loving me through it all.
Cooking sweets with you around the Holidays.
Sleeping in bed with you and dad when I was a little girl. (Thank you for enduring how much much I moved around when I sleep.)
Family vacations.
The way you smile.
The way you will always make a u-turn for the hot light at Krispy-Kreme
But most of all, when I think of you, I think of how much you love me. You have never left me with a single doubt that you would move mountains for me if you needed to. You are the best mother in the world. You are smart, loving, courageous, and bold. You are also one of the most successful people I have ever known. The way you love is incredible. You not only love all of us kids, but you have truly loved all of our friends and all the people that we have brought into your life. You are beautiful on the inside and out. You have raise three children that absolutely adore you. I couldn’t have chosen a better role model to live my life after.
When people tell me that I am just like my mother, it is the biggest compliment that I could ever receive. When I have my own children, I pray that I am able to be half the mother to them that you have been to me.
I love you with all my heart! I thank God everyday for you and the incredible example that you have been to me over the years. It is because of how you have loved me that I am even able to partly understand how much God could love me.
It was such a blessing to be able to see you at the airport in Bangkok. It was such a light to be able to spend a few hours with you, your smiling face and your loving spirit!
XOXO
