In a world where there are billions of people, how do you see God as the most important one?

There are people everywhere. We are surrounded by them; friends, family, strangers. People we grow to love and care about; people that become huge parts of our lives. People that make us feel seen, people that make us feel as though we matter.

So how then, when we can physically see and hear and touch people, can we remember that God is the most important one? This is something I’ve struggled with understanding and implementing in my life. It is so much easier to get caught in the world and things we can see.

You see God loved us so much that He gave us all of this. This world, people, animals, lakes and mountains, sunsets and sunrises, are all a reflection of God’s love. It’s here because he loves us. But it’s not here to take the place of His love.

I believe God wants us to experience lots of loves. That’s why we all have passions. He wants us to live, to really live. He wants us to get married and have children, to own a boat and sail across His seas, to play music and listen to the rhythm of the heart, to love a dog and feel the joy that comes with bonded souls and sloppy kisses.

But what we can’t forget is this is all because of Him. Without God, we wouldn’t exist, neither would anything else on earth, or the earth itself.

People are a reflection of God’s love, not a replacement for it.

So whenever you’re struggling with putting God first, remember that person, or that thing, or that idol in your life, wouldn’t even be here without God. So be grateful. Tell Him how much you appreciate Him and all of these wonders He’s created. Thank Him for all of these unique, fun-loving, incredible people that understand and fill your soul, because He’s the one who made it. And just remember, since the God of the universe created you just as you are, He knows you better than even you do yourself.
