This is one of the first things I hear when explaining the trip, and certainly one of the first things I thought. I mean, I’m the one giving up a year of my life to help other people, so why do I have to pay for it? I’m paying to volunteer?

I think this is what the enemy plants in our minds when wanting to do something as courageous as the World Race. He plants these small seeds of doubt, telling us that there’s no way we could possibly raise $16,561, so we might as well give up now. But the devil would love that, wouldn’t he? These small seeds grow into roots and branches when fundraising isn’t all that successful, and it wears on us. I’m speaking not only from personal experience, but many of my team members are feeling this same pressure.

But– I KNOW, that God has placed this on my heart for a reason. And He wouldn’t call me to do something greater than myself only to watch me fail. He’s asked me to do this, and I’m certain He will see it through.

Now here’s where you all come in.

Currently (as of 4/27/16), I’m sitting just below $3000 raised (hallelujah that I’m this far). I need a total of $5000 by May 13th to be able to stay on my route and not asked to leave on a later trip. I’ll need a total of $16,561 to be fully funded and be able to spread love around the world. Here’s a breakdown of where all that money goes:

Training camp is a week and a half I’ll spend in June getting to know my fellow racers. Seeing as I’ll be spending a year with them non-stop, this time is pretty important to our cohesiveness as a group. We’ll get more information about ministries abroad and bond with Jesus in the Georgia heat.

Field support/Development program/Admin fees: All go to making sure this huge trips runs smoothly. There’s people staffed around the world solely to watch safety conditions around the world, so that in case of emergency, they would be able to evacuate us quickly. It also goes to staff everyone that has been there for me along the way. There’s a slew of people that organize trips, scout for new locations, and are here for support in the U.S.

The biggest chunk goes to me! All of my travel (traveling to 11 countries isn’t cheap), food (ya’ll know me, I eat a lot), and everything in between.

As you can tell, I’ve come a long way, but I certainly still have a long way to go! Now that you know where everything goes, please consider making this dream a reality. Your donation could be anything from $10, to $100, to the entire trip. Really– anything will help. And if you’re hoping to give more, but just don’t have it right now, you can donate monthly or quarterly! $10 a month for 5 months won’t seem like a lot to you, but that will put me $50 closer to my final goal.

Thank you for helping, and all thanks be to God! Hallelujah!
