Follow me now. Step into my shoes.

God called you on this journey. You answered. You have entered the World Race. Now begins the task of fundraising and blogging.

Never fund raised for anything before? No biggie. All you have to do is come up with $16,524.

Never blogged before? No Biggie. All you have to do is write and post online, where anyone ever could read your written and recorded thoughts, opinions, experiences, etc.

This was my initial take once I entered the Race. I’ve never fund raised for anything before and the thought of raising $16,524 for anything was daunting. I’m not a great people person and I don’t like asking for help. I’ve never blogged about anything before. I don’t like advertising what’s going on in my life or speaking on things that might upset some one (I’ve the bad habit of people pleasing, so this is like a nightmare come to life for me). I’m sure the contents of this journey will make me say a lot of things that won’t please my non-Christian friends and family. These tasks seem simple, but scare me. I’m not qualified for this.

It’s a good thing it’s not about me and my qualifications though. Scripture paints the picture that God first calls and then qualifies. He has a strong track record of choosing the least expected person to do His will, which is good news for me! Paul sums this concept up nicely in 1 Corinthians:

“For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong” – 1 Corinthians 1:26-27

He called me to step out in faith and go into the unknown, to follow Him, to love His people, and fulfill Matthew 28:16-20. He also has a strong track record of being faithful. If He has called me to step out and do this I have to trust Him, to trust that He’ll equip me and provide for the journey. Trust isn’t easy, but that’s what fundraising is all about – letting go of my desire to be in control and trusting in my Abba, Father to provide for me.

For me, blogging is letting go of my fear of being open and honest. It’s to let go of the fear of failing to please people.

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” –Galatians 1:10

I’m not here to please people or even myself. That’s not why we’re here. I can’t seek to please both man and God. It’s my goal to please the One who died so I could be reconciled back to Him. It’s my goal to live a life worthy of the gospel of Christ.

This time is a time:

Of surrendering myself over to Him and His will for me.

To learn to trust Him.

To let His promises make me brave.

To get drawn in closer to my Abba, because He loves me relentlessly.

So that I’ll be equipped:

To love boldly and serve with humility.

…build a house.

…teach English.

…care for orphans.

…dig holes.

…worship with complete freedom and utter abandon.

…preach and pray door-to-door, hut-to-hut, and dorm-to-dorm.

…feed the hungry

…befriend teenage prostitutes.

…encourage pastors and missionaries around the world.

…heal the sick.

…pioneer a ministry.

…hear God’s voice.

…repair broken homes, families, and hearts.

…share my story.

…meet felt needs.

…visit people in prison.

…yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I could end up doing any and all of these things. I’m trusting my Abba to provide, to make me brave, and to equip me for this calling.

What’s He calling you to do?
