You know how you have things that you do or wear or practice that make you feel “you”. You know? Your favorite outfit, perfume, baseball cap, reading your favorite book, or maybe sitting in your favorite secret spot in your hometown? (Ok I’m done with the you’s :). Yoga is one of those things for me! I spent an hour this afternoon at Bliss Flow Yoga Studio at a power flow class, which is a faster-paced yoga practice incorporating strength, flexibility, & endurance through fluid movement sequences and poses. Ali was my instructor this afternoon, a cute mid twenties blonde with a sweet smile & a great flow playlist (she has the coolest name, huh?).
She was guiding us through poses after a good warm up & asked us to work on a more advanced pose called the crow, which involves squatting onto your toes, placing your palms on the floor, bending forward, and moving into an inverted position with your weight on your elbows.
Ali gave us a few alternative, easier poses if we weren’t up for the crow, but really encouraged us to push our bodies to a new limit of balance and challenge. In her sweet voice, Ali said to the class “I really encourage you to give crow a shot today. You might be thinking ‘but Ali… what if I fall?’ But what if you fly, my dear? Then, it will all be worth it.”
“‘But Ali, what if you fall?’
But what if you fly, my dear?
Then, it will all be worth it.”
