This month my team has met and fallen in love with a small village in Southern Nepal. We have been working with a local contact, Achut Mainali, who started a school in 2003. Until two years ago, the school was funded by a non-profit organization that allowed many children to attend school through scholarship programs. When the non-profit suddenly stopped giving funds, the number of children attending dropped from 350 to 75. The school was no longer able to provide financial aid to the students or keep as many teachers on payroll. When Achut’s son, Shubas, heard the news about the funds being cut, he quit his teaching job in a nearby city to begin working as the principal of the school. Shubas, his wife, and their new born baby now live with Achut. Shubas is also working without pay to help keep the costs low for the children who currently attend the school. Shubas is a humble man of God and if you were to ask him how you could help him he would say “Pray that I do the will of God and not my own.”
As you can imagine, education is vital in providing a hopeful future for the children who live in this village. A proper education will aid in breaking the cycle of poverty as well as the marriage of young children. When the children do not receive an education, families look to marry their daughters as young as 8 years old and their sons at 10 years old.
My team and I have taken it upon ourselves to ask you, our friends and family, to take part in bettering the lives of the children in this village. We have set up an easy way for you to donate money to sponsor a child and change their life forever.
It costs $36 a year to sponsor a child but because most of the children we hope to sponsor have never been to school before, they will also need $60 for a uniform, which includes 2 pairs of shoes, a belt, a tie, a pair of socks, four shirts and four pants/skirts. This means if you would like to fully fund a child for one year it will cost $96 total.
Please prayerfully consider sponsoring a child and helping this village receive hope and an education.
Aubray is my teammate who has headed up the sponsorship fundraiser. The most efficient and safest way to donate is to use her PayPal id. If you are wanting to donate, please log into your own PayPal account then use her PayPal id: [email protected] and choose the “Transfer Money to a Family/Friend.” No extra fees will incur if you do so (on either end) and put a note on the transaction that states “Nepalese Children.”
*Please note this fundraiser is not run through Adventures in Missions; this is a third party ministry we ran into while in Nepal. I can guarantee your donation will go towards sponsoring a child and bettering the lives of the children in this village.
