Heyyyoo! So I’m back in Guatemala, I’ve been here for exactly a week now (I’m writing this on Wednesday the 19th). We’re staying in the countryside of the town of Paramos at the AIM base. I am rooming with my team of 7 girls. We have comfortable beds, filtered sink water and warm showers! So rare for the Race and we are so thankful to Abba!
We got our ministry assignments on Monday and began ministry officially yesterday. My team is working in a small village called Llano (pronunciation; jano) with a person of peace (a local believer who has a heart for the Lord and their community & is willing to partner with ministries), her name is Monica. She has two older sons in their twenties and two young daughters who are 5 and 7. Monica has a heart to give to those in need and serve her village in any way she can. She is a corn and bean farmer so in the mornings we walk to her village (about a mile away) and help in her gardens.
Then we have lunch at her home and hang out with her, we love her so much already!
After that we have English classes in her home on Mondays & Wednesday’s. English is a very valuable skill for us to be able to teach for free, knowing English helps people get better jobs and bring their families out of generations of poverty.
On Tuesdays we go around the village and ask the Lord to point us towards people to talk & pray with and let Him lead us into relationship with these people.
On Fridays we are actually going to be holding cooking classes in Monica’s home with other ladies in the community, we hope to learn from them and also speak life over them to be women of God in Llano.
God is definitely already stretching me and taking me out of my comfort zone with the farming, constant community so that means less alone time, and teaching English while not knowing Spanish. But He is so good and life is so sweet even when it’s a little uncomfortable and rocky. I’m excited to learn more about Gods character in this season and experience more of His abundance.
We have access to all of who God is through the Holy Spirit, we are literally His temple, His church. I’m excited and expectant to see more Kingdom come to Guatemala these next three months!
