Choosing joy. Saying “yes”. Living above our circumstances & preferences.
All great ideas, great principles, but all are easier said than done.
This week I’ve been faced with all of these, and whether I’ll say “yes” or choose my flesh.
Will I choose to have grace for the people around me when I get tired of living with 50+ people?
Will I say “Let’s go God!” when ministry that day doesn’t at all looked like what was planned or what I even like?
When it’s a hard afternoon will I still decide to look at His grace & love that’s new in that day, or will I walk around dwelling on that feeling & let it dictate whether that day is good or not?
I’ve noticed in myself that when I’m living out of my feelings, or I’m dwelling on my not-so-glamorous circumstances, I’m missing out on the joy & abundance that the Lord has for me that day. And if I’m not going through life choosing to see His goodness in the hard, small & big struggles, then how can I lead the people around me into seeing His glory? Because my God is glorious all the time, He never lets me down and He never tells me,
“I just don’t feel like walking with you today, hope that’s cool.”
or
“Ugh, Satan really sucks and I just don’t feel like dealing right now, eh it’s just a bad day.”
No! If I’m being formed to look like Jesus more everyday, choosing to not have these attitudes is something I can control!
If you look at the life of Jesus, he never once said he didn’t like ministry or that today was a bad day. He saw the world, he saw opportunities and people with the urgency & eyes of the Father because that was how intimate of a relationship he had with Him. One of the beautiful things about God is He desires to share His insight & views with us, the more time we spend with Him the more we begin to see the world & our circumstances through His eyes. When we see through the Fathers eyes, we really see how much of a blessing every little thing is, that everyday is a good day because He is always good. We see past the attacks of the enemy & side effects of sin to see a force that’s more powerful than all of the negative;
the agape love of a good King.
