We’ve been in the Dominican Republic for about a week now so heres a blog on what’s going on.
Ministry
While we are here we are split into out teams and we’re on a weekly rotation for the 4 types on ministry we are doing here.
Creative- This week team zao made a dance about how Jesus takes lies we tell ourselves and replaces them with the truth.
Admin- Team Mesa has been with admin this week. They’ve made a new website for our base hosts here to sell products made by the women they work with that have been sexually exploited. They also did receipts and made some tik toks to be posted while we are here.
Outreach- Fervent has been the team doing outreach. They have written encouragement notes to some of the women who have come through and took a prayer walk around where we are.
Property- Quo Vadis(hey, thats my team) has been doing manual labor on the base. Anything from chasing a baby chick to moving rocks to pulling weeds. They’ve been making the base look prettier and help setting up future projects.
Life Stuff
- I have been sick from the moment we arrived in the DR. Nothing terribly serious but there’s an infection in my legs thats going around the squad and my stomach had a few issues the first couple days. I am getting better quickly but I haven’t been able to work with my team during ministry times. I’ve been hanging with mesa in admin. Prayer for not only me but the others that are infected would be greatly appreciated.
- I have also committed to a smaller mission trip directly after the race. I will be going back to Utah may 31-June 5. I truly fell in love with missions on this same trip last year. Currently my plan is to make this my last short term mission trip. I want this trip to be my last for a few reasons. To finish My short term missions where I truly started and to get to see and share the growth done in me in the last year. I am so exited to see what God has for me. This trip does have a cost.
