Eva. Headstrong. A fighter for the ones she loves. She is force to reckoned with, alongside the Father at all times. I want to leave you with the fact that Eva can make anyone feel safe and at home.

Her question is: “How has your opinion on missionaries changed after being on the race?”

“Before the race and still now, I’ve had a hard time with the term ‘missionary.’ I’d always looked at missionaries with somewhat of a bitterness because I saw person after person going on mission trips and glorifying themselves at the cost of exploiting the people they wanted to ‘help.’

But now I’m being referred to as a missionary and now I’ve been thrown into that melting pot of stereotypes. I think my relationship with the term is changing because I’m on the other side of it. I don’t think of myself as ‘savior’ and I’ve noticed that the people alongside me don’t either. Now I see that missionaries can be people who just live in other countries, simply, because the ‘mission’ is only to love others. So, since being on the race, I think that bitterness has been healing because I can see the fruit every day when I see Love being chosen over glory.”
