I wrote a blog a few months ago about weird things that happen on the race sometimes. So, I figured I’d write a second!

Sometimes your teammate almost throws up on you but then she makes it to the sink

Sometimes you put temporary tattoos on people when they are asleep

Sometimes you make a habit of eating pepperoni and bread for lunch because it’s Eastern Europe

Sometimes you practice a skit in a public park in Sofia, Bulgaria

Sometimes you spend 30 of 48 hours painting Noah’s ark and all the animals in a kid’s ministry room

Sometimes you eat chicken curry at 6:30 AM in Singapore on a layover

Sometimes you miss your bus and have to sleep in the bus station in Asia

Sometimes you wake up in that bus station and realized the patch on your sleeping pad didn’t work #deflated

Sometimes your first official shift at refugee camp it pours down rain and it’s the overnight shift

Sometimes when you ask your ministry host for dress code specifications and he says “don’t be too sexy”

Sometimes you try to buy your host river boat ride tickets but they out bless you and already bought yours

Sometimes you throw up from a violent cough in the Radiology department of the hospital

Sometimes the Greek wind is really strong and crushes your tent against a wall and shreds the poles

Sometimes your host’s mom remembers you as “spicy girl”

Sometimes 5/7 of your team wears matching men’s swim trunks on travel day

Sometimes you dress in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts and jandals and your host takes you to a fancy hotel for dinner with two families from his church

Sometimes you get to pray with elderly Chinese women in Malaysia

Sometimes your teammates get attacked by a monkey at the beach

Sometimes you eat curry puffs for breakfast on Thanksgiving Day

Sometimes you have to wear your rain jacket on the bus because the air conditioner is leaking so much

Sometimes you eat seaweed pork dumplings from a night market in Malaysia

Sometimes when you are working out on the 3rd floor of your hostel you are genuinely concerned the floor will cave in

Sometimes when you use 5 gallon water containers as weights they leak on you

Sometimes you drop your headphones in your peanut butter waffle

Sometimes you get invited to a family dinner by the backpackers in your hostel

Sometimes when you are on shift at a refugee camp the translators make a huge wok of food for everyone in the office to share while sitting on the floor

Sometimes your team makes a music video to One Direction

Sometimes you meet a couple from Canada (we love you Jessica & Brahm!!) and they pour into you SO much

Sometimes your five hours bus ride turns into eleven and a half

Sometimes you hold your own IV bag in your hand when moving rooms in a Greek hospital

Sometimes you get lice twice before month 6

Sometimes you meet a mutual friend in Starbucks in Thailand

So many weird/crazy/fun/tragic things in these 5 months! Today was my last day of ministry with my first team and my last day of ministry in Thailand. This whole world race goes by pretty fast – see ya new years day Myanmar !!
