When I first got accepted for the World Race, I shared about how I found out about the program at the gym in my neighborhood. Some totally random girl heard me talking about how big my heart is for Swaziland. She told me she thought I should look up the world race because she thought I’d like it. This was two days after I just spent a couple days surrendering my plans at a YoungLife college weekend. We sat under the stars asking God to do something bigger than ourselves. A couple of weeks later I was applying to go on a trip with Adventures for the summer and knew I’d eventually go on the race.
That was January of 2015 and I launched for the World Race August of 2017 just a few days after I met the age requirement. When I was at the Adventures Office before this second launch I was just chatting with a guy on staff from my hometown. We kind of figured out someone on the long term Guatemala base might have been that random girl from two and a half years ago.
So I get here to the brand new crazy awesome gap year base outside of Antigua, Guatemala and meet this girl named Kelsey. I share this crazy weird story I think she might be a part of. Turns out she was home for about five months before moving here to Guatemala, and both the timelines lined up.
If that’s not confirmation I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, I don’t know what is. Our God is so creative, specific, relational, and generous to His kids. It seems like everyday I see more of the little threads from years ago in my life show up to show me Jesus is in it all.
Xoxo,
Alexis
P.S. only $1,055 until I’m fully funded!! Woohoo!!
