I’M BACK IN AFRICA.

This month our ministry is nearly the epitome of a stereotypical world race month.

We got to our little village in the mountains of Malealea, Lesotho about a week ago. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in my whole life. Three hundred and sixty degrees of mountains around us and open fields bigger than I’ve ever seen before. We wake up at 6 am (at the latest) and go on our morning walk (well actually some of us run) for about half an hour. Then we have two hours to spend with Jesus/get ready for the day/eat breakfast.

Then the fun part starts.

We walk a little over half an hour to a near by village to just spend time with people. We just ask people questions, pray for them, and serve them however they need. We’ve washed dishes, swept dirt pathways, made sour porridge, pet donkeys, and been gifted two large zucchinis.

We come back home for lunch and get back to work for the afternoon. Sometimes there are cinderblocks that need to be moved, sometimes there are several hundred pound boulders to be moved. Sometimes it’s pulling weeds, well actually a lot of times it’s pulling weeds.

Then we eat dinner and go to sleep mostly before 9 pm.

No joke.

We have very minimal electricity, and little to none when it’s cloudy. There’s just not a lot to do without lights or charged electronics or energy.

Yesterday I was riding with one of our squad leaders into the city for wifi and ATMs, and thinking about this life I get to live. In a 16 passenger taxi van with over 30 humans going up and down and around the mountains, I just couldn’t believe where I was. I NEVER would have dreamt this life up for myself. There’s something so special about getting to see the Lord work in the smallest villages in the most remote places and worshiping Him as the sun rises over the mountains. Saying yes to this adventure is honestly the best decision I’ve ever made.

Xoxo,

Alexis
