Sometimes on off days we world racers like to do some adventurous things. I decided to name my favorite adventure days from each country to let you all in on a fun part of the race!!
Serbia – Month 1
Croatia Day. Our host took my team and I on a little tour of Eastern Europe to Croatia. We saw a fortress, went on a hike, visited a monastery and (don’t worry the locals said it was fine) ate some weird berries from the Forrest.
Romania – Month 2
This one is honestly hard to say and so I’ll just include both. 1- the hike to the top of a mountain. It took all day, and some bouldering, but we got to worship at the top of Romania after quite the trek up a very steep mountain. 2- MEETING GAP L. WOW I LOVE YOU GUYS. We played four square and soccer and I laughed so hard I cried about 10 times.
Greece – Month 3
Athens. The number one place I always wanted to visit was Greece. My whole life I’ve wanted to see Athens – even if it was just a day between our ferry and flight. We saw all the cool ancient history and slept in the airport – Classic
Malaysia – Month 4
Our host took us to a floating market where we saw traditional singing and rode a boat then after we visited the beach!! It was a really unique month and we didn’t have a lot of free time, but we got to see a lot of Malaysia!
Thailand – Month 5
My team packed up and went to a place called sticky falls, where I got the wonderful privilege of baptizing my teammate, team leader, and friend Erica. We walked up the waterfalls and explored the Forrest.
Myanmar – Month 6
Coffee shops. We took ubers and sat all day drinking something wonderful called a honey cinnamocinno.
Cambodia – Awakening
Angkor Wat. We got 2 hours of sleep and got to see one of the 7 wonders of the world!! How fun! Also weird because they use US currency??
Lesotho – Month 7
We went hiking a lot, but my favorite was hiking to the tippy top of a mountain, then after scaling down getting milkshakes.
I’m super thankful that I’ve been given these opportunities to appreciate the countries I’m in because a lot of moments or days on the race are hard and serious. The great thing about it though – the happy, laugh until you cry moments far outweigh the rest.
Alexis 🙂
