Last week we arrived in Rivne, Ukraine ready to serve. We had no idea what this month’s ministry would entail, and it turned out that we we’re tasked with teaching english at both a public school, and also adult english lessons. At first I was terrified to be honest. Public speaking really isn’t my cup of tea in the first place, and the thought of teaching solo was very nerve-wracking. But the more I thought about it, the more I became excited. Because even though sometimes I don’t have the words to speak, I know the Lord will speak for me.
An example of this happened today! At the public school we are suppose to teach them about our state’s, and practical English games to keep them engaged. Connor and I had a beautiful powerpoint all ready to go, and we we’re somewhat prepared for the lesson. We arrived at the school, and realize that we forgot the hard drive that contained the PowerPoint back at our appartment… YIKES. But in that moment we both remained calm, and was able to present our information without our notes! With the help of some attentive students and last minute flashcard charades, we taught all three lessons and they went so well. We actually had a more enjoyable and productive day of teaching without our information than when we did!
The Lord told me a few weeks ago that He wants me uncomfortable.. And that at my weakest point, that is when He is going to best use me for the kingdom.
So even though teaching english is still new and scary, I will continue to welcome the uncomfortable. Because I know that through Christ I can do ALL things. (@Elise) The Lord is going to continue to grow and stretch me until I fully empty my hands of myself, and take hold of the plans He has for me.
