Whoosh… month two of ministry has ended. I can hardly fathom how fast time is flying by. We’re in our third month of the race in Palacaguina, Nicaragua.

First, I would like to apologize – I consider my blog and keeping family, friends, and supporters updated part of my 11 month ministry – it’s been difficult to have consistent good internet connections to communicate everything that is happening here.. there are so many details of daily life that I can’t fit into my blogs.

… Our month of ministry in Honduras only lasted two and a half weeks, and our time there was filled to the brim each day. It was all squad month, so all seven teams plus our three squad leaders lived together in community in Talanga, a rural town an hour outside of Tagucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. It is beautiful country, and as a small town girl, I quite enjoyed the change of scenery from serving in Guatemala City the previous month. The roads were packed potholed dirt, oxen carts and their drivers, horses and their riders, and many individuals on foot traveling the road down from the mountain into the village to sell various goods such as sugar cane, stacks of sticks, and fresh produce. Each day they passed our lodging location…

So, the breakdown of the basics of my team’s ministry in February….

We, along with another team were working with AMOR ministries (Aaron’s Mission Outreach, also the Spanish word for love) which has been in existence for the past eight years. It is a missions organization run by a couple originally from Kentucky. They gave us a southern warm welcoming as the first group of World Race teams that they have ever hosted. The other five teams were split up between two other local ministries during the day.

AMOR ministries raised up two churches in the hills surrounding Talanga. Besides pastoring the flock of local believers, they also are involved with the local mountain schools, supporting the children with educational needs (uniforms, school supplies, etc) and once a week visiting remote schools to feed approximately 250 children between three locations. They also work alongside a local doctor who runs a free medical clinic behind one of the churches. They are invested in this community and are committed to serving, feeding, clothing, and caring spiritually for those in need.

While working with their ministry, we had opportunities to preach/lead worship/teach Sunday school, and share testimonies at the two churches. There were also opportunities to go to the clinic and work with the doctor, and teach in the schools. Our ministry hosts were in the process of building a fence for their property’s safety and we were able to make a lot of headway by serving them in manual labor underneath the hot Honduran sun.

It was a great month living in community with the entire squad and having a change of pace and a variety of tasks that were different than the last month.
