TEAM AWAKENING!!!

From left to right: Sasha, Ramon, Kaila, Alexis, DeAnna, Hilary, & Jan Carlo

… Forming teams was probably the most anxiety inducing event for me at training camp. Teams terrifed me…. what if I was on an all girls’ team, what if I didn’t like my teammates, what it it turned out terrible? …. You would think that by now that I KNOW GOD IS GOOD and ‘what if’ questions should be a thing of the past since I know that GOD’S PURPOSE PREVAILS and HIS PLAN IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN MINE. You would think right? …But still, I was nervous and anxious and fearful about forming teams. I loved the group of approximately 50 people that I was beginning to call family, I didn’t want us to be split up into teams of six or seven.  …sometimes, I get attached, and I don’t like change. But I knew it was going to happen, so I tried to not only accept the formation of teams, but also be excited about it

During the week we had some team bonding/formation/teamwork activities…After each team building activity, we had the opportunity to have one-on-ones with our leaders to share our input/preferences and to have them ask us specific questions regarding working in teams. My teams for each activity started to follow a pattern – all girls, a few of the same girls in each one, etc. etc… So, I prayed that God would soften my heart to being on an all girls’ team, that He would open my heart to challenges of working with new people. And by the day that we would find out out teams, I felt that I was ready to accept an all girls team… then we did our last team formation activity and the results – I was on a co-ed team, and I didn’t have anyone on my team that I had been with during any previous team activities. Brand spankin’ new; boy was I surprised!!

This group of six beautifully unique individuals is now my World Race team for the next year; The team that I will live with, eat/drink with, travel with, worship with, pray with, work with, witness with, serve, encourage, lovesupport with, experience new things, and grow with. (Look to the left sidebard to view their faces and links to take you to their blogs so that you may learn more about them!)

So… my new team is not at all what I expected, but it will be everything I need to serve around the world and share God’s love with the nations. We are a team who is excited to grow with each other, for God to take us out of our comfort zone in order to stretch and challenge one another, all for His glory!

Please keep me, DeAnna, Sasha, Hilary, Jan Carlo, & Ramon in your prayers as we continue to get to know each other better and prepare to serve together in God’s name in 11 different countries.
