The repeated question I have been getting recently is, “what called you to missions?” Personally, I think that is such a difficult question to answer because, honestly, I don’t know for sure that I am called to a life in the mission field. Missions is not something I necessarily thought about, or planned on ever doing, which is why you can imagine my surprise when I felt God calling me to do the World Race.

I first heard about The World Race when a Facebook friend of mine signed up and started this journey himself. After a few months of watching him post blogs and share his story, I decided to go figure out what The World Race was all about. Little did I know then, that it would soon change my life. I remember spending hours on the website being so interested in everything I saw. When I stumbled upon The World Race- Gap Year page and saw that it was for college age students, I felt that this was something God was calling me to do.

As excited as I am now about this experience, that was not my initial feeling. I was scared, nervous, and really hesitant! Over the past couple of months, I’ve sought out God’s word, prayed, and repeatedly asked God if this is something that He really wanted me to do, and I got my answer.

So if you have the question, “what called you to missions?” I don’t really have an answer for you. At this moment, I don’t even know if I’ll go on a mission trip after The World Race, but I do know that I have the passion and desire to serve God in any way He calls me to do so, and, right now, I feel that He is calling me to do The World Race.
