This trip will break me…

I am in between tears, laughter, wonder, and the unknown…

Ahhh just reading the current world racer’s blogs has given me a dose of what will be my reality for 11 months starting on July 2015.

One girl made a list of what I can possibly expect while just in Cambodia and it totally freaked me out!

  • “You may have mouse attacks in the middle of

the night…(don’t worry though, Chase has killed 3 of the possible 5 mice/rats)

  • A mosquito bite or some other kind of bug bite may get infected and you may end up with a hole in your foot and it may take over 2 weeks to heal. (it’s not fun…it’s rather disgusting)
  • You may take a shower with a cockroach or in Chase’s case you may get the privilege of showering with a mouse (he ended up killing it with a squeegee and a brick.)”

Quick background on Alexis.. My sister calls me Princess.. I prefer the sidewalk over grass.. I am not really an outside kind of girl, I love fashion, restaurants, sightseeing in DC, and I’ve never washed clothes by hand.. But all of that has taken a back seat to what Jesus wants for me. As of late everything that used to interest me no longer does.. Its not that my former desires were wrong.. It’s just that God has something else for me in this season. I’ve always had a heart for people, but I never thought I would go and live among the same people I prayed for or sent donations to…This is what it means to be his hands and feet huh?

By now you may be thinking, so why are you going? Like you are going to abandon your home with hot running water, Verizon Fios, pest control (Dad and Aaron), wifi, shopping, and all because God led you to go?

And my response is… “Yes, yes I am. I made up my mind a long time ago that where God leads I will follow.”

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be. (John 12:26)

I will never be fully prepared in my own eyes for what I will experience on this trip, but I know God has and will continue to prepare me. If I was completely prepared, I wouldn’t need Faith.. But asking God to take you deeper most times requires blind faith. I have never been out of the United States, but here I am allowing God to lead me to 11 different countries for 322 days!

By God’s enabling grace I will endure the tests and trials, which will surely build my character. I look forward to being wrecked for His glory…For I know as sure as He is the master carpenter that He will mold me into something beautiful.

After watching a short film called “Faith Confessions” by Senior Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church, I want to share just a few of the awesome declarations that are in the film! I challenge you say them aloud and believe what you are saying!

  1. I act in audacious Faith to change the world in my generation.
  2. I have no fear or anxiety, I trust in the Lord with all my heart.
  3. I am able to fulfill the calling God has placed on my life.
  4. This is a big one… I am FULLY FUNDED TO DO EVERYTHING GOD HAS CALLED ME TO DO!
  5. I am increasing in influence and favor FOR the kingdom of God.
  6. I have the wisdom of the Lord concerning every decision I make.
  7. My squad and I are protected from all harm and evil in Jesus’ name!
