In 1975 a group of communists took over cambodia. They believed that the western ideas of living were wrong and that the people should go back to the old way of living. In order to do this, they evacuated all big cities and moved people into the fields. This act Left the cities empty and filled the fields with small torturous camps.
Anyone who was wealthy, educated or worked for the government were killed. Those who weren’t killed immediately were starved and tortured. 1.7 million people were killed during this time. Removing 20-24% of Cambodias population and leaving the country without an entire generation.
Cambodia is by far one one of the most spiritually heavy places I have ever encountered. Everyone knows someone who lost their life or were severely injured. People from the communist party are still hiding in the mountains. It’s unsafe to go hiking due to possible land mines around the mountains and fields. It’s crazy to think that people around my parents age lived through this horrific event. It’s also strange to have been in this country for an entire month and have only encountered 1 man over the age of 50. Yes, just one.
There have been many struggles while being here but a big one has been spiritual ware fare. The Lord often speaks to me through visions or dreams and I have seen more going on spiritually here than I had bargained for. I have been sharpening this gift all year and the biggest thing I have learned is to use what you’ve got to fight what you don’t want. Prayer is a weapon, and is a hugely understated one at that! Most of my ministry here has been spent on my knees in prayer and man has it been difficult!
Our squad is about to head to the Philippines next week. While Cambodia has been one of the most emotionally and spiritually challenging places, it has become one of the hardest to leave.
Our team has decided to spend Tuesday evening in worship and in prayer for the country, the people and the businesses. We are asking that our families join us in prayer throughout the day on Tuesday! The goal is to shake the foundation of this country with praises to our king. That through prayer we can help shed the skin of depression and anxiety here. SO I AM CALLING ALL PRAYER WARRIORS! Will you join us? I will be doing a live video before our session begins on Tuesday. I hope to hear from you! Calling on the King of Kings is our greatest weapon, Let’s use it! An army fighting together is stronger than a single person fighting alone! LETS GO!
