I just got home from a 10-day TRAINING CAMP in Gainesville, Georgia. I don’t want to give away to many intimate details to potential racers because the unknown is quiet exciting!
But here are a couple things that I learned:
A 14 hour drive with a complete stranger can end in a beautiful friendship
Georgia has significantly big ants and spiders
Baby wipe showers are a real thing
Headlamps are a necessity
Perfume = bug spray
“Lovely Day” by Bill Withers is the best song to wake up to (Thanks Nathan!)
Crickets taste like sunflower seeds
I will never do another burpee or squat
Change is good
Pure excitement is seeing the porta potty truck pull into camp to clean them
Doing laundry in a bucket is overrated (Febreze does the job)
Not looking into a mirror for 10 days is quite liberating (the only mirror is in the porta potties, so no thanks)
SNACKS SNACKS SNACKS (Goldfish, Cliff Bars, & Starburst)
Vulnerability = telling embarrassing stories around the camp fire
God speaks to everyone differently
Airport simulation = the best night of sleep
Expect the unexpected
I prefer a hammock over a tent any day (even in the rain)
Feedback is important (I have blind spots in my life and my team can hold up a mirror for me)
Take your bible, notebook, pen, & chair everywhere you go, you will need it.
Squad Wars are no joke (Caleb’s face while hitting an egg with a dead fish)#XSQUADBESTSQUAD
Bucket showers get easier (5 gallon bucket with a measuring cup)
Getting to do life with 42 other people = AHHHMAZING (I already miss them)
Everything you read in the bible is the least that you can expect from God!
