What’s up?!

It’s been over a month since I have blogged. A lot has been happening but I want to catch you back up starting where I last left off.

I spent last month in Mandalay, Myanmar and I can now add English teacher to my resume. We taught Monday through Friday, twice a day. Every morning we would drive 30 minutes to a tiny church in the neighboring village. We had four to six students depending on the day. In the evenings we drove 10 minutes to the Pastors house where we would have 15-20 young kids. As a team we split into pairs and split the days and lesson plans. We all took turns teaching on different topics.

Our living situation was pretty great. We stayed in a hostel called YoeYoeLay. We had bunks bed, air conditioning and they served breakfast every morning. The staff quickly became our friends. They were super thoughtful and sweet. They would put ‘Thanakha’ on our faces, which is a traditional cosmetic that they believe is good for acne and diseases caused by extreme heat in the body core. They even let us borrow their traditional Myanmar hats.

After we left Myanmar we headed to Siem Reap, Cambodia for Awakening.
Awakening is where four squads including ours came together for a time of teachings, worship, and reflection. We spent five days there.
