Pray for:

Thank the Lord for what He has already done!
-There is a strong evangelical community, comprising about 25% of the population, and Swaziland has a solid core population of believers.
-“The Swaziland Evangelism Task (SET) continues to offer vision and ministry strategy to churches in order to effectively saturate the nation with the gospel. Despite obvious differences, the three main councils of Churches — Council of Swazi Churches (mainline), Swaziland Conference of Churches (evangelicals) and League of African Independent Churches — have some fellowship and share direction on areas of commonality.”

HIV/AIDS
-This disease has literally devastated Swaziland’s population. Life expectancy was as low as 32 in 2008 and 26% of adults (but it could be more) are HIV-positive. About 61% of all deaths could be attributed to HIV/AIDS.
-This has lead to many young people in the workforce, many orphans, and many households led by the oldest sibling. Pray for these children..that they would have the strength to lead, that God would provide jobs, comfort them, etc.
-Pray for treatment for those affected. Anti-retrovirals are available and free, but there is a severe shortage of adequate care facilities and widespread make the suffering so much worse.
-Pray that sexual morality will be restored. “Until purity and fidelity are practiced as a social norm, this scourge will never be defeated. Polygamy and a lack of holiness among Christians contribute to the problem. Pray for marriages and families to function as God intended; that in itself will be a great victory against AIDS.”
-Pray that Christians, including us, will show the love of Christ as demonstrated through practical gracious ways. “No church trying to be relevant can afford to ignore the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of AIDS sufferers. Training pastors to address this challenge is a strategic key.”

The Church
-“Nominalism is widespread.Far too many Christians live no differently from their unbelieving compatriots. Pray for God’s Spirit to bring revival. Many churches, even traditional evangelical groups, are stagnating and losing their young people.”
-“Traditional practices adopted uncritically lead to syncretism, but outright rejection of them leads to legalism and irrelevance. Pray for wisdom and grace to practice a culturally relevant but biblical Christianity. Men especially need to be drawn in the Church — the large majority of the faithful are female.”

Unreached People
-8% of people in Swaziland are still unreached

Our Ministry
-I believe that we will see people miraculously healed from AIDS while we are in Swaziland, so let’s start preparing for it now. Pray that God will give us healing hands and that He will do great wonders and healings in Swaziland.
-Pray that we will love those AIDS orphans with love they will never forget and that God will open their eyes to realize that it is His love.
-Pray that we will encourage and lift up fellow Christians and that God will use our faith to spark revival in His Church.
