The Church
-The church is growing, and “there is a sense of increasing momentum as the gospel permeates deeper into Moldova through evangelism and church planting.”
-However, “the influence of the Orthodox Church makes evangelical work difficult. Preaching and planting churches in traditionally Orthodox villages is especially opposed, frequently with violence. Bureaucratic antipathy to any non-Orthodox work means that building and registering churches is a difficult process; houses are usually converted to make new evangelical buildings. Yet there is also life in the Orthodox Church, especially through Agape, a ministry of The Lord’s Army. Pray that the Holy Spirit would deepen the spiritual life of many from the Orthodox faith.”
Political Uncertainty
-A former USSR country, Moldova still faces an unstable political climate. Moldova is now a republic though. Please pray for this country’s government. That there would be peace and unity within the political sphere and that it would give significant improvement to the lives of the Moldovan people.
The Economy & Extreme Poverty
-Moldova remains one of the poorest countries in Europe despite recent progress from its small economic base. And actually according to BBC news, it is “Europe’s poorest country.”
-Pray for God’s provision over those in poverty and for a boost in the Moldovan economy.
Crime and Human Trafficking
-According to the CIA World Factbook, there is “widespread crime and underground economic activity” particularly in illicit drugs.
-From what I understand, the poverty of this post-communist society has led to a serious problem in human trafficking. Poverty makes the people, and especially the large number of orphans, extremely vulnerable to traffickers.
-Actually, “Moldova is the source of much of Europe’s human trafficking. Tens of thousands of Moldovan women have been sold into prostitution in more affluent countries and trade in human organs is a growing and frightening problem.”
-Please pray for the men, women and children who fall into this horrible cycle of trafficking. Pray that justice and help would come. Pray for jobs for these people so that they would not be as vulnerable.
-Pray for an increase in good, quality orphanages to help these children find refuge so they do not fall victim to traffickers.
-Pray for justice and that the Moldovan government would no longer turn their back on its people who are being trafficked.
Our Ministry
-Again, because country is one the most significant reasons I am going on the World Race, I am believing for some seriously incredible things to happen in Moldova.
-Pray that we will provide love and compassion to those who have fallen victims of human trafficking and prostitution.
-Pray that we will equip the ministries we partner with to help even more people.
-Pray that the conversations we have will be blessed and that we would have favor with government officials, Orthodox believers, and even the people we meet on the streets.
-Pray that we will provide physical relief in a way that truly equips and doesn’t limit the people and make them dependent on foreign aid.
-Pray for salvations and the presence of God to be in Moldova with us!
