Hey family frieands and supporters!!!
I’m here! I made it to haiti!
Our travel day was 17 hours long and crazy!
We are staying at an orphanage/medical clinic that is about 1.5 hours from the center of Port Au Prince. I am in love with the girls here (we live w the kids) and the ministry at the medical clinic!
I’m getting involved with the nutrition program here for the malnourished children under the age of 5. It’s called medika mamba. You can google it, or wait for me to have the internet to post a blog all about it. The kids are severely deficient in protein… But after 8-10 weeks on the program, the success rate is 87 percent (for the rest of their lives!).
Today I got to see a 3 year old graduate after 10 weeks. Her mother’s joy brought me to tears. It was such an accomplishment for the two of them. I saw so much HOPE in that one little girl.
In spite of the sadness all around, I see the silver lining. I see redemption and hope! Jesus is the hope of this nation and people are seeking Him!
Jer 33:3 says “call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know”
Join me in praying for this nation. That they would be a nation that cries out to Jesus for complete healing and redemption. Jesus is the only way for this land to be healed… And I believe He desires to comfort and heal this land (is.40)!!!
The internet is extremely infrequent here… And you have to have power to use it also… And we only get power for about 3 hours each day. I’m actually typing this blog on a blackberry right now! Please be patient with me for the next blog!
I love you ALL SO MUCH! Thank you for yours comments (here and facebook) and for all your prayers, they bless my heart more than you will ever know.
P.S. It’s really reallllllly hot here. Hotter than I remember!
P.P.S. Will someone please call my daddy?!?! They are still in the hospital for mom, so my only contact is skype, and I can’t access skype right nowm I just want them to know I love them and I’ll skype call as soon as I can! Mom’s bday is aug 14! Yay momma!
