after spending only a few days in the slums of Qui’ja Quieta (key-hah-key-yetta) i’m already in love.
i’m in love with the children and their sticky fingers that come running up to me grabbing around my
thighs and calling for my blonde hair.
i’m in love with the 106 year old woman (who i will get a picture of VERY SOON) who is made up of
literally skin and bones, but has the most illuminating smile of joy… as she speaks life over me and
cries out GLORY be to GOD.

i love the smells of the mothers cooking on the street corners; in the slums they live in community,

if you have food today, you share today with those that don’t… and when you don’t have food, others that

do will share with you.

God has been so good. i’m sorry it has taken me so long to update you on what has been happening. the internet speed/connection here is TERRIBLE. we spent 5 days in Santo Domingo preparing for the year [i mean… as much as anyone could possibly prepare… haha]…
we prayed, we laughed, we cried, and then we prayed, and laughed, and cried some more!
at the end of the week some of us were asked to stay here in the dominican for 3 weeks before
heading out to haiti . i was among the ones asked to stay, so i have about 2 more weeks here in San Juan, DR.
God has so efficiently prepared my heart, that i didn’t even flinch at the thought of staying (even though I
LONG to be in Haiti).here in San Juan, there are many slums and that is where we are ministering.
half of my team is doing a VBS for the children of the slums in Qui’ja Quieta and the other half of my team is making house visits to
speak LIFE and HEALING over the families. I am among the half that is making the house visits. God continues to show up daily and lead us in
EXACTLY who to speak to, what to say, and what to pray over them.
Jesus has been teaching me what it means to ABIDE in the vine [john15:5-7]”I am the vine, you
are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is
withered; and they gather them and throw into the fire, and
they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall
be done for you.
As we minister in the slums, God is showing me how important it is, that I come to Him before
every decision i make… what to say, what not to say, what to do, what to eat, when not to eat… everything.
Jesus only did what God told Him to do… and because of His faithfulness, there was fruit in Jesus’
life. how much more should only do what God tells us to do???

my friend colby gave me the perfect analogy of this a little bit ago… he said that we are the
watermelons, and Jesus is the vine and the leaves. when the watermelons are protected by the leaves
and fed by the vine, it grows and is sweet… and bears fruit. BUT when the watermelon goes outside of
that feeding and protection, it begins to rot.

we must allow JESUS to breathe life into our soul [by staying in the Word and in prayer CONSTANTLY], so that we can produce rich and sweet
fruit for the glory of the Father.

Jesus hears us and desires for us to remain in Him. just like He did with the Father in John 11

… “Father thank you for hearing me, You always do”

we MUST remain in His love or else we will rot like a watermelon in the hot sun.

God is love. Abide in His love.

TAKE OWNERSHIP His love. Be a person that operates, not out of your love for Christ, but out of Christ’s love for you. Produce
much fruit, for it’s the glory of God in you!

Be a person that operates, not out of your love for Christ,
but a person that operates out of His love for you.
