It is so easy to make the new exciting things in your life greater than your purpose of actually doing them.
It’s easy to tell people, “Hey i’m doing this thing called the World Race and its a really crazy once in a lifetime opportunity to reach the nations and explore different cultures!”. And then leave it at that. It is easy to place those things on a pedestal because, why wouldn’t we? We live in a time period where showing things off for attention is the way we decide to receive gratification. I can easily spend a whole year on the World Race doing ministry posting and blogging about Jesus without actually encountering Him.
But the thing is, Jesus isn’t a trophy. I can’t just display Him on a shelf for others to see and to admire. When He gives us opportunities in our lives to glorify Him we can’t claim the opportunity and abandon Him. He needs to be taken off the shelf and passed around. Jesus isn’t a trophy that just sits on a shelf with a light shining on him for display. He’s a part of the race. Jesus is the baton that is shared from person to person. He is alongside us the entire time. He doesn’t look down upon us from a higher place but he runs with us every step of the way.
And I need to be reminded of that.
I’m not doing the World Race because I want to prove something.
I’m not doing the World Race because I want to show off.
I’m doing the race because I cry in desperation to know Jesus more.
Not to just make him known by my blogs or mentioning him throughout the race. But to really know him and make him known by the love and grace that he has extended out to me. Because Jesus changes lives. He has changed my life and continues to do so. And that is something that needs to be shared.
