There I was, literally Day 1 of the World Race, praising Jesus in a small church in Santo Domingo, when it hit me: language is NOT a barrier.
Not for the Holy Spirit anyways.
To back up a bit, this is my first time out of the country, and my first church service where the music and message was not in English. Much to my enjoyment, I did not seem too apprehensive about not speaking the native tongue. I was just hugging on people and laughing with them before the service started. I was just enjoying the moment that the Lord was blessing me with.
It wasn’t until the worship team was singing that it hit me. That regardless of whether or not I could understand the words to the songs, my Spirit knew. God’s Holy Spirit living inside me knew these people were praising their great Father. I did not understand one line in any of the songs, but my soul was happy and rejoicing! I had tears of joy and love towards God in that moment of worship; and I, myself, speak no Spanish.
God didn’t care. His Spirit understood every word, and the words came alive in me. The words were well with my soul. My soul was singing praises to the God whose hand and sovereignty transcends all boundaries and barriers. There is NOTHING outside of God’s realm.
God's people all over the world are singing praises to their Living God and Beauitful Savior. How blessed I am to witness it and have my soul join in!
