My life this month….

For starters, I am working in Phuket Thailand. I am living with my team, another all-girls World Race team, and an all-girls Passport team. Bascially, its one big girls sleepover. And I love it!

It is such a change from the past two months, where my team lived by ourselves. It is also differnet, because the past two months we have been living in the midst of our minitsry. This month, our minitsry is off-site for the most part.

Our ministry this month is working with an organization called, SHE. It stands for Self Help and Empowerment. The ultimate mission of SHE is to reach women who work in the commercial sex industry. To clarify, these women make the choice to be working in the bars. That being said, most of them do not realize that there are other ways to earn an income, and most of the women DO NOT like their job. The majority are working in the bars to support their families.

Phuket is a tourist city in Thailand. The beaches and landscape attract people by the thousands. Due to the amount of foreigners that come through, the demand on the commercial sex industry has increased.

SHE is a ministry dedicated to reaching these women and impacting their lives in a positive way. They help by providing the necessary training to equip these women with others jobs and careers. All the while, living out and sharing their faith in God, as well as the simple truth….that God loves them, calls them beautiful, and has such joyous plans for them.

Our role in helping SHE is to go out into the busy/tourist streets and go into the bars. We go in and get to know the women working behind (or on) the bar. We order a coke and strick up a friendly conversation, in hopes that a deeper relationship is formed. Then, we invite them to lunch and get them connected with SHE

SHE is also working on completing their 'land' project. Its the property where the new facilities are being built for SHE. They include; housing, a day-care, offices/classrooms, a coffee house, etc. We are helping with projects all over the land. For example; painting, clearing land, mowing, weeding, sanding wood, breaking up dried cement, planting trees, and more.

I am beside myself with excitment that God has called me to help with this ministry. Its such a powerful ministry, especially for an all-girls team. God is definitely working in Phuket, and He has asked me to help. How crazy! Keep SHE, the women in the bars, the men who pay for them, and our teams in your prayers this month.

We are waging war with sin this month, but we serve a GOD who has overcome the world!!

"For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war
with the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not
of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds."
