I leave to go to Asia in 99 days.

99 freaken days.

I can’t believe we’re in the double digits already.. it feels like it was just yesterday that I got the acceptance call to the Race. But here it is.. 39 days until training camp and 99 days until I leave home. This is crazy!! So as I just sit here, I think about what I’m leaving behind. I’m leaving such a great community of people. My church, Celebration Church, has been absolutely amazing to me for the past 4 years that I’ve been going there. They’ve been there for me through so much and especially through this part of preparing for the Race, they’ve all been incredibly supportive. The relationships I have through that community of believers is something that I’ll always be thankful for. And the thought of leaving them for a year makes my heart hurt a little. I started wondering how am I going to have community like that with strangers?

This past weekend, I went to New Orleans to meet up with 3 of my squad mates and just hang out. To be honest, I was really kind of nervous just because I had never met any of them before. I wondered how awkward it was going to be, and what would we have to talk about, how would we click.. I just had so many different thoughts going through my head about how the weekend would go. But, whenever I first saw Shelby, Haley and Kelsea, I went straight up to them and like freaked out for a second and gave them all the biggest hugs, and it was like since that moment, we just clicked.

It’s the hardest thing trying to describe, but it felt like we had known each other our whole lives. The connection that we have can only be described as being ordained by The Lord. I believe there is something very special that God is going to do through our whole squad that is going to unite us. We’re all going to be going through something that is unique to only us. Yeah, others may have done other long-term trips or have done the Race before, but not this one. Not coming up against what we’re going to, or the people we’ll encounter.. God has specially prepared this for us. If I felt such a connection to these 3 girls on the first day that I met them, then I can only imagine what it will be like when I meet everybody else I’m going to be living with for a year. The community that we will have is going to be incredible and I can’t wait. **Shout out to the V-squad!**

Each person has their unique gifts and talents, and I ask that if you’re reading this, if you would pray for our squad to be united and that we would thrive in the giftings that God has blessed each of us with through the Holy Spirit.

“For as in one body we have many members and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” – Romans 12:4-5

Please consider supporting me prayerfully and financially.
