What you put in is what you get.

It’s true with working out, dieting, relationships..

It’s also true with ministry.

This month in Mongolia, we are serving at a church and during the week, we are going out into the city to build relationships and meet people to share the Gospel with and invite them to church and our events that we host in the evenings.

Sounds really cool, right? It sounds amazing! Like how cool is it to have so much freedom to explore around the city and meet people?

The first day of ministry, I was super excited. A squamate and I met a man who wanted to buy us lunch and we got to sit with him and share with him why we were here and told him about Jesus. We invited him to church and exchanged phone numbers. It was a great day! I was so full of hope for this month and was expecting people to come to our events at night and that the church would be filled with new faces.

But they didn’t, and I got discouraged.

People don’t like to hear that.

People like to hear that when you’re on a missions trip that you’re preaching the Gospel to everybody and that everyone is coming to the Lord and that you’re casting out demons, and healing the sick and seeing these crazy miracles. People don’t like to hear that it’s a struggle to talk to people. But it is, especially when very few people speak English.

So I started to think over this past weekend, what could I be doing? Why is nothing working? What else could I do?

Then I immediately got convicted and thought about how much I’m putting into this ministry. I’m doing it, and I’m joyfully doing it, but I’m not pouring myself out for these people. I want to see God do more, but I myself am not doing more.

Before I leave this beautifully country, I want to know that I did everything that God told me to, and I want to know that I was listening to Him more. I want to know that I got out of my comfort zone more. I want to know that I gave more of myself to these people so they will know that there’s a God who loves them.

Please pray for God to draw the people of Mongolia to Him and for God to break through the darkness that is surrounding these people.
