Hello friends and family and soon to be teammates! I’ll share a little with you guys, the highlights…
I was born
and raised in the fantastic Los Angeles, California. Therefore palm
trees, beaches, flip flops, and mountains (yes you can see them! I do not believe
in smog.) are in my blood. I moved to Coppell, Texas (suburb of Dallas)
during my senior year of high school. So of course there was all this
internal drama going on inside because I missed my home and Texas was
just not all that cool. THANKFULLY I have an amazing Heavenly Father
who taught me (and is still bringing home this point) that he really
does work all things out for good and to bring Himself glory. My family
and I started attending Irving Bible Church, which ministered to all
our hearts. We were lonely, and the church stepped up and welcomed us
warmly. I love IBC! Also my favorite thing of the move is that it
allowed my brother, Hersson and I to become BEST friends. I even got to
be best “man” when he married my dear Amy this past summer! I graduated
from the University of Dallas in 2005 with a degree in Elementary
Education. I have taught at Brandenburg Elementary for 3 years, and
each year has been unique and great! Oh and I totally dig Texas now!!
I was
raised in a Christian home and grew up in church, but it wasn’t until
high school that I began to understand I could have a living
relationship with God. Through life’s beautiful sunsets and even the
bumps, I have learned that God intimately communicates with us. Some
things He has used to change me and draw me to Him: Mission trips and
travel opportunities (I love it!), family (they know me and challenge
me), friends (they are my delight!), illness (all kinds that
strengthened my faith), moves (California to Texas), and even through
loss. I am at a point in my life where I am desperately searching for
what it means to truly live. Oh I know it in my head, but I want to
feel it all the way to the tips of my toes. So at 26 years old I am
FINALLY going on a year long mission adventure. Something I have wanted
to do for ages but couldn’t find the courage to do so. The Lord has
mended me all up and is pouring into me, it’s time.
My loves:
My family has a huge place in my heart. My mother has taught me the
importance of prayer and humility, and my dad the value of hard work
and a stiff upper lip. My brother is my soul mate, and a treasured
encourager. My friends leave deep imprints on my soul. They are vital
contributors to my relationship with Christ. The color green moves me.
The ocean is my favorite of God’s creations; I like to be in it, near
it, and think of it when I am away. Willow trees continue to surprise
me with their beauty. I love being around children, hearing their
wonderfully random stories, and hanging out with my old students. If
I could marry any imaginary person it would be Harry Potter (I have an
HP lunch box) or Maximus Decimus Meridius (I mean he really is that
cool). I am addicted to Grey’s Anatomy and Hannah
Montana. I love to pray and sing loudly in the car, it helps my annoyance at other
drivers, and puts me in an incredibly fantastic mood. Waking up to music, makes the getting up process a little less
painful. Buying songs on itunes is super fun and super addicting. Working out is a new
fun thing, thankfully I have some work out buddies that make it even
better! Reading a good book is ultimate in cool. yeah…
Last but not least: I can’t wait to meet the October World Racers and GO! It’s all I think about!!!! J
